Author Registration Policy

Because we want to provide a quality directory we have a relatively stringent registration policy. Too many new directories will accept anything just to have some articles in their database. We feel that this is a dead end for both the directory and the authors who wish to publish content on the web.

There are two paths to publication on these pages. The quick and easy way is to use the Submit Your Article distribution service (a subscription service). SYA is the only distribution service that I use for content because they pre-screen the articles and save me the time and effort. I have an arrangement with them to provide articles for this site. If you are not familiar with the SYA distribution service please check out what their Article Distribution Program can do for you.

We want no Article Spam here!!

I have set this directory so that article submissions must be manually authorized. If you register by a script your registration must conform to our rules and this registration policy. I do not allow completely automated registrations. Once you have completed all the steps you must send a note via the site contact form including your user name before you will be authorized to submit articles. Once submitted articles are manually checked before they go live on the site. You will receive an article approved email when the article goes live.

I am happy to accept articles locally from authors that provide quality content and can live with The Rules. I have made this registration require a bit of effort because there are automated scripts that target the directory script on which this site is based. If you comply with this registration policy you can use software or script to post your articles, but first you must exert some effort to be authorized to submit articles. You must also comply with the rules.

I require that all author names appear in a conventional format, that is Firstname Lastname. The software does accept spaces and I expect to see a space between first and last names. An underscore is not necessary, or acceptable. I will accept single word names but would prefer at least a name and initial. A middle name or initial is also acceptable. I will not accept keyword phrases as author names, nor will I accept numbers in your name space unless it is an official part of the name like Joe Blow III or James Smaltz 3rd.  Do not attempt to use brackets to spin your name, the software is not set up to do that anyway. Your resource box is the place to list your anchor text links, not your author name space. Registrations that do not follow this guideline will be deleted.

For local registration I require that the author profile be filled out before articles will be accepted. The SYA delivery script establishes an account but does not fill in the profile. I encourage my SYA authors to make use of the author profile as well. There is a space for your website URL (a good backlink). If you have no site please type 'None' in that space. Please fill out something in the bio section. Using proper html formatting you can place an anchor text link in the profile bio box. I would prefer that you upload an author photo or avatar if not both. This will make your profile page a more friendly place.

I suggest to all of my authors that you promote your articles that are displayed on this site. You will be helping yourself achieve your objectives as well as helping me and the community here. You have some investiment in the content that you post here. Either you have spent the time to write the content yourself or you have contracted for the content to be produced. You post the article hoping for a backlink. In order for your backlink to count here, or anywhere on the web, the page must be indexed. I maintain a blog for Author News and Tips that offers suggestions of ways that you can easily promote your articles.

This policy may be updated periodically. Please check it occassionally.

If you have any questions please use the contact form to contact us. If I see the same questions repeated I may establish an author FAQ.
